White House - The residence of the United States President and the safest building on Earth.
The plot of the movie revolves around taking down the White House and how Unites States Capitol Police Officer breaks the efforts of the antagonists. As the President re-calls the army from mid-east, the villians tries using the Presidential powers to launch nuclear weapons for their selfish motives. The story seems very much similar to Olympus Has Fallen directed by Antoine Fuqua, which also released this same year. The characterizations also clashes with previous films. No doubt that making this movie would have been challenging for the Director and the crew. But it seems, the director missed some elements in the screenplay which gave a grip to his previous projects like Independence Day, 2012, 10000 BC, Godzilla, The Day After Tomorrow. Being a regular watcher of hollywood movies and if we go to watch White House Down with same expectations on the director, he really disappoints the audience. The story is more predictable when the movie goes beyond 40 mins. Channing Tatum, as a Capitol Police Officer who fights single handed to save the President reprises the role and reminds of John McCLane(Bruce Willis) from Die Hard movie series. Since most of the heroes in hollywood have crossed their 40s and are nearing 50s , Channing Tatum even at 33 seems to be well qualified for heavier roles. His timing and dialogue delivery gives some boost to the movie. Jamie Foxx as the President Sawyer did a decent job. Good actors like Maggie Gyllenhaal, Richard Jerkins, James Woods have been wasted in this.
But typical Indian hollywood movie goers who grew up watching movies like James Bond , Terminator, Die Hard may get entertained by this movie too. Over all the movie is a one-time watch, with no expectations from the director's prior movies.
