The Wolverine - Hugh Jackman's stand-alone effort

The Wolverine , sixth movie of the X-Men series released world wide this week. Hugh Jackman is again the wolverine as from the past X-Men movies. This must be the only drama genre movie in this series.

The Line :

Movie happens in Japan. Logan(Wolverine) is brought to Japan from Canada by his old friend Mr.Yashida. In Japan, Logan finds that the last successor of the Yashida family is in trouble and helps in protecting her. This leads to a series of incidents like Logan losing his ability of immediate cure from injuries. How did he recover from this and did he save that last girl from her troubles is the rest.

The View :

Hugh Jackman as the mutant super hero, looks very younger than he was in Les Miserables. As always, he has performed the character of wolverine in his own way. He also is the producer of this movie. This is his second movie as producer in this series. Though there is not too much action as other movies int this series, Jackman still stands tall as wolverine. Seeing him in the screen makes us believe that Jackman is the perfect one to play the character of wolverine. It is surprising why he doesn't hire Bryan Singer(Director of X-Men series) to direct his movies. X-Men Origins- Wolverine was directed by Gavin Hood. Now The Wolverine is directed by James Mangold. We would have seen Mangold's talent in Girl Interrupted and Tom Cruise starring Knight and Day. We must say Mangold has put his everything to give his best in The Wolverine. His effort pays. Maintaining the soul of the character is the main task in this film and Mangold has did it perfectly.Shooting outside Japan, by re-creating the sets of Japan should have been hard for the crew. Screenplay by Mark Bomback and Scott Frank is good. Visual effects and the sound are not as good as other movies in this series. It is also good that, whatever movie they make in this series, whoever may be the director , they doesn't miss the sync between all the movies. It is very difficult to maintain such a thing when number of movies are directed by different directors and screen writers.Tao Okamoto as the female lead has given her best, even in this debut movie. Viper,is the antagonist role played by Svetlana Khodchenkova. Other Japanese casts shall be praised for their performances.Climax of the movies paves way for the next movie X-Men - Days of Future Past. The Wolverine will be loved by X-Men fans.
